Today was a great sports day. You know why? Because the Cubs lost. I am a huge Dusty Baker hater. I think Prior and Wood are great pitchers, but boy oh boy do I hate Dusty Baker for his poor managing of last years World Series. It was so sweet to watch the Marlins score 8 runs in the 8th inning. Me and Dave were all high fiving each other. Don't get me wrong, I'm not some bandwagon Marlins die hard fan now, but I am rooting for them because I hate the Cubbies. I don't care if they defeated the Giants in the first round of the playoffs, in my mind it was more of the Giants beating themselves up. Come on, if you can't catch a baseball, you don't deserve to win.
The Yankees and close to going to the world series. I also hate the Yankees a great deal. And if they lose in the playoffs, they'll be the most expensive losers ever. If there was a Boston-Chicago World Series, televisions everywhere will explode from the coverage and Fox will be raking in trillions of dollars in advertisement ads.
There was a fan in the Chicago game who "interefered" with a foul ball, which was almost caught by the outfielder, but instead he tried to catch it and got in the way. In my opinion, the Cubs lost because they sucked, not because of that one play. After that play, the Marlins went on to score 8 runs, and that could've been out number two. So what happens to that "Cubs fan"? The fans throw beer at him and he's just sitting there all alone. He's on national televsion and Sportscenter is talking about him. Man, I'd hate to be that guy. NO WAY would I ever want to be him, not in a zillion years. If the Cubs lose tomorrow, this guy will get killed, literally. His children will get messed up at school. His home will be egged. I fear for his life. But if the Cubs win, nobody will remember that guy and things will go back to normal for him. I bet there were people waiting for him at his car after the game with a bat (a corked one if the guy waiting was Sammy Sosa). So in a way, for his sake, the Cubs should win. But I'm not him. Thank goodness. If one of my friends did something like that, I'd just walk away and pretend I didn't know him. Hey, my life is precious ok?
Rule of that story. If you're at a baseball game, NEVER interefere with a baseball that has the slightest chance of getting caught. I don't want seats where I can lean over and mess up a game. I just want to be right in the middle of the crowd.
They changed Pac Bell Park to SBC Park. That's a horrible idea. It's always about the money these days. Next thing they'll do is rename McCovey Cove to Trojan Condom Cove. Meaning the only way to score in Trojan Condom Cove is too get some good wood on the ball.
If I continue to write enough for many years, I'll be able to have a "This Day In Blog History" section, where I can visit my archives and relive past memories and highlights.
I wonder if I'll have many of the same habits as an old man as I do now. For example, will I still be going on the internet and chatting on AIM? Or will I be fighting my child to play on the PS2 (or PS8 by then). Will we still sit around Norms house and chat about useless things? Time will tell.
I will be an old man one day, but I'll still beat my grandson at PS2.
