Well the CCU Volleyball season came to an end last night. It was a good experience in my opinion. I definately came away learning a lot about myself, my teammates, and people in general I think. You're probably thinking I'm lying but I'm really not. This was my first "team" event for me because I never played any organized sports as a kid. I guess you could count the volleyball and basketball at church as a "team" thing, but after games you don't hang out like we did at CCU. I'll touch on CBC Volleyball later. Anyway, we ended up 2nd place in the CCU standings. The first place team was the team that organized the CCU volleyball. I think when we all looked at the standings, we all wondered about its validity because the record said (if I recall correctly) we were 27-14. And let's be honest, I'm a fantastic, some would say "dominant", volleyball player. We did lose 4 games last week, but that was the week Alex sat out (coincidence? I don't think so. Alex=Wins). But they gave us these ribbons that said "2nd Place" on them, and I was so thrilled because that was the first time I've ever won a sports-related award. Even when we won CBC Basketball, they didn't give us a trophy. I went home last night and showed my parents and brother. My parents were proud of me, but my brother laughed at me.

It was funny when they were announcing the standings and handing out the ribbons. Nobody clapped when the first place team was announced. And nobody clapped for our team except for us a maybe a few of our friends there. We're the hated team of the CCU league, like the late 1980 Detroit Pistons. That's right, we're the Bad Boys of the Christian league.

I've played a lot of volleyball this past summer, and it was cool to gain all that playing experience because I had teammates teaching me about the game. Plus you just naturally pick things up during the games you normally don't when just watching. Brian is always so eager to play on the "advanced" level courts when we go to new places. I remember a few weeks ago we went to a gym and played on the intermediate court because we were new and we could tell they didn't think we could hang on the advanced court. Well we ended up playing two games on the Advanced court against these huge white guys, and Brian, Alex, and Kenny held their own there. I can't say I added anything to the team, but it was nice when we ended up beating them barely in the second game. There was also this asian guy who joined our team because he wanted to be among his asian brothers. He was then called the "Asian Sensation."

I also wanted to touch back on the topic of CBC Volleyball but I'll save that for another time. I'll just wait and see what happens later on in the season before I talk to the media.

More to come at a later date. Boy, I can't wait for tomorrow's Wild Wild Party. You know it's going to be wild.
