I thought yesterday's entry was too gloomy, and I need to stop posting gloomily. I know my situation isn't as bad as I make it seem sometimes, and there's worse stuff going on in the world. So let's talk about happier stuff.
Bush won, again. It was shocking to me actually, even though I did vote for Bush. Honestly, I thought there was no way he'd get re-elected, especially because of the Iraq stuff. But I guess this year's election was almost like trying to decide between dog crap and horse crap (you try and pick the crap that's the least smelliest). But I guess the Republicans were more of what I'm about as a person, morally that is. I'm not really even into politics at all, but I found the election more interesting since I took the time to vote. I think Bush probably won because of all the same sex marriage laws. I'm guessing that since all 11 states voted to ban same-sex marriage, all the people that voted to ban it stuck around and voted for Bush while they were at the polls. Plus all the 18-24 year olds came out to vote or else Puffed Daddy was going to kill them (that slogan makes absolutely no sense. Puffed Daddy is just advocating democracy and violence. Somebody needs to put him in prison for spreading violent ideas).
Speaking of the election, I hear Jill Wynns was victorious. I actually did not vote for her, or anybody else in the school board section. She did beat out David Wiener though. Hehe, she beat a Wiener (a little humor there that Jeff would be proud of).
Warriors lost. It's only one game, no biggie. Giants re-signed everyone I thought they would, but I did not expect the Deivi Cruz signing. I'm surprised he wants to come back, considering he's almost certainly going to be the back-up. Plus I was shocked that we had the money to sign him, after the season he had last year. I haven't seen the terms yet, but I would guess it was 1 year, $1-$1.25 million. If we got him for anything cheaper than that, I think that's a steal if he can replicate last year's stats.
Sounds like Thanksgiving dinner will be held at my house for once this year. Usually we just go to our grandma's house for lunch and then we eat whatever we can find around the house for dinner. My mom said I could make something for the dinner, so I'm having trouble deciding what my specialty dish is. The problem is I've never really cooked or baked anything in my life, except those blueberry muffins where you add the blueberries with the eggs and mix. My brother used to yell at me for mixing it wrong. I have it all on tape. That was as a kid. I thought that was just something he did because I was a kid, but when we made blueberry muffins a year ago, he yelled at me again because I was getting muffin-mix on the baking pan and kitchen countertop. Guess some things don't change. He'll probably yell at me for preheating the oven at the wrong temperature while we're making bran muffins when we're 80.
Here are some ideas on what I might make for our Thanksgiving dinner:
1. Chicken Cordon Why-Feeling-So Bleu? - I'd get some chicken breasts, throw in some pieces of ham and swiss cheese, put some batter on it, and fry them up. I think I saw that on the Food Network.
2. Allan's World Famous Corn-On-The-Cob Bread - It's really just cornbread with a fancy name. This sounds easy to make, but I have a feeling my brother will yell at me for mixing wrong.
3. Cranberry Sauce w/ misc. Fruit - I'd buy some cranberry sauce in a can, melt it so it's liquid, throw in some cranberries, strawberries, blueberries, basically all the berries I can find, then freeze it back to solid form. Everyone will be amazed at how all that fruit got into the cranberry sauce, and I wouldn't reveal my secret. The only drawback is that melting cranberry sauce and then freezing it back up might mess up its structural integrity. I'd need it to be as sturdy and useful as...say...an outdoor gymnasium.
4. Fried Wonton w/ some kind of filling - I think frying wonton is pretty easy, but I have no idea what to put inside of them. I could put in some shrimp or artifical crab meat. Or go even fancier and put in some real crab meat. No, I'm cheap, so it'd be the fake stuff.
I'm open to all suggestions.
