This was definately a tough week. I won't get into it, but like always, the short weeks always turn into the long ones. I've got a 4 day weekend, but I have a couple of tests to study for and I want to finish strong this semester. Anyway, here are some things going through my mind:
1. I was reading my Sociology book and they brought up some pretty interesting things. For one, there's this theory that language is critical because language creates our reality. Basically, a good example my teacher gave was the time he swore to his parents in English, but they only understand Japanese, so in the reality of his parents, swearing in english doesn't exist. And also think about seeing a sunrise. What if we had no words for the colors, or did not know the word for "clouds" or "sky"? Would a "sunurise" exist in our reality if we had no way to describe it? I guess it's like the tree-falling/sound riddle.
Another thing the book talked about was these extreme cases of child neglect, where these kids had little-to-no contact with other humans. Basically, since they weren't exposed to the language and just locked up in a room with some food for years, they couldn't stand up, talk, think, or have an attention span. The book also says that if a child has little interaction with other humans, by the age of 5-6, the damage is irriversable and the child will stay mentally challenged forever. That's heavy.
2. I want to get an iPod, iPod Mini, or a iPod shuffle. I know it's not really a necessity and I'd probably get either a mini or shuffle since I don't want to spend much right now. I'd just download some John Mayer songs that aren't on his cds and listen to that. As some of you know, I don't download songs anymore. Not because I'm standing up for the music industry, but because I'm scared of all those lawsuits they were handing out. I remember discussing that lawsuit they slapped on some little girl for downloading music. Come on, that's pretty harsh.
3. Speaking of John Mayer, I hear he's going to release his next cd in 2006. That's a long way from now. I guess I'll just have to listen to my Spice Girls cd to get me through until 2006. My goal is to one day meet John Mayer, and perhaps my only way is to save up $1500 towards his auction for the backstage/meet and greet tickets. It's sad, but that's like 2 years of work for me. There must be a cheaper way.
I'd also like to meet Kate Hudson and Noah Wyle, but that's pretty hard because these actors really don't make too many public appearances. Perhaps I'll go stalk...I mean, visit their homes...I mean...shucks.
It would suck if all the people I'd like to meet and talk to like Mayer and Kate Hudson and Noah Wyle were really jerks in real life. That always happens in the television shows, where Billy wants to meet the famous baseball player he adores, and when he does, the baseball player calls Billy a loser and tells him to get a life. Then Billy's dreams of becoming a baseball player go down the drain, so he ends up in the telemarketting sector. But yea, if I ever met "celebrities", it'd be nice if they were cool because you tend to remember stuff like that for the rest of your life, although they'll forget you pretty quickly.
This is why AJ Pierzinski, Brett Tomko, and Dustin Hermanson can _____________.
4. Let's all take a moment to send out some prayers to Tedy Bruschi, the greatest football player to grace this planet.
I've got some pictures I want to post up soon on Yahoo. Just need to upload those later, so stay tuned. Have a good President's Day weekend.
