So I was talking to Martin and Pat K tonight and we started talking about guitars, etc. Then Pat brought up the cowbell, then I thought of the triangle. So I went online on eBay and looked for some, and suprisingly, they're relatively inexpensive. A good triangle will run you in the $7-$10 range (all prices are including shipping and handling). A nice cowbell will cost in the $10-$13 range (there's even the chromium version, I wonder if the cowbell rings clearer on those). But no band is ever complete without the triangle and cowbell.
We always talk about starting a band but I don't think it'll work out. Everyone plays guitar or piano. Some of us even play orchestra instruments, which is hard to play in a rock band. Someone needs to buy the cowbell on eBay and get really good. I bet there are even cowbell national conventions where the best cowbell players from around the globe gather in one big auditorium and show off their stuff. I wouldn't mind seeing some cowbell battle.
I bought new strings but I don't know how to put them on my guitar properly. There's a guy at the Guitar Center who does it for $15, but my strings only cost $9.99, so it wouldn't make sense for me to see him. My brother was the one who bought the strings for me at the Guitar Center, and he said they were really rude to him. That doesn't surprise me. Although I've bought my guitars at the Guitar Center, I've always felt uncomfortable there and don't like going there often. Maybe it's because I know everyone in that store is a better player than I am. I don't know if many of you guys can relate. It's like an amish guy in a Foot Locker looking to buy his first pair of Nikes. Or a priest in a tattoo parlor browsing the vast selection of tattoos they offer.
If I went to the Nerd Center, I'd feel right at home.
