I will be filling in for Elisa and speaking this Friday night at Bible Study. I will also be signing autographs afterwards for the first 10,000 fans.
Math Camp has begun, and it's been pretty good so far. Selina is right, the kids seem more tame this year. Maybe it's the fact there are less kids and a smaller school. I've been trying to visit all the classrooms and get to know as many kids as possible, regardless of the class or grade they are in. Many of these kids are quite refreshing to be around because they are honest and just blurt out whatever is on their mind. It's been only one week, but the consensus seems to be:
Allan is boring, says the same things over and over, is in his late twenties, has dandruff, looks like a "hobo" because he doesn't shave, has dirty shoes, looks like a kidnapper when he buttons up his jacket to his neck, is "weird", and has a girlfriend but is lying when he claims he does not.
I was reading some of my old entries and I came across my 2005 New Year's Resolutions. Since it is halfway through the year, I decided to repost them now and give you a status check on how I'm doing on them. Here we go:
1. Keep my mouth shut/think before I act: I've been doing an okay job at this, although I need some work on this in the school environment. I just act dumber when I'm around teachers. Grade: B-
2. Be a better son: I'm trying here as well, but it's been difficult, especially since we're all yelling at each other from the stresses that the wedding provided. Grade: C+
3. Start my own reality television show: Nobody has given me a contract yet. Grade: F
4. Become more of a nerd: I just got into UC Berkeley. Grade: A
5. Win a championship in something: I have a chance to win in my fantasy sports leagues. CCU Softball could fulfill this category. Our CCU Volleyball team is against stiff competition. I'll hope the team can carry us to victory in softball and we find a way to get it done. Grade: A-
6. Invent a catch phrase: I haven't had much luck for this resolution. I seem to be in a dryspell trying to get things going. You might even say, I'm in a "pumpernickel funk down under". OoOooO, just came up with one. Grade: A+
