Some big Mayor/Mayer news.

1. The Mayor, Fred Hoiberg (my second favorite NBA basketball player of all-time) is set to have heart surgery to fix an enlarged aortic root. He could recover in 3 months and be back next season for the Timberwolves, but the article says he may also consider retirement. This news saddens me, as I was rooting for the Timberwolves to make the playoffs so he could have a chance at a championship ring. I hope his surgery goes well and that he returns to the court next season. I will pick him in the first round of our fantasy basketball draft. If he retires, I may have to retire from fantasy basketball as well.

2. Just got the John Mayer Room For Squares Dualdisc. I don't know if you guys have heard of these Dualdiscs, but it's basically the CD on one side and a DVD of some sort on the other. John Mayer has already issued Dualdiscs for both Room For Squares and Heavier Things. It's really just a gimmic, but I have bought both. The new Dualdisc is pretty cool though because it shows him making his first album back in 2000.

John Mayer has also formed the John Mayer Trio and will spend this year touring. He's even going to be making a stop in Septmeber at the Fillmore, but it's on a Tuesday (schoolnight) and I don't know if it's worth driving back and forth from Berkeley. Plus I have to get tickets for the show. He's also going to be releasing his next album early next year and will be on Kayne West's new album in August.

This concludes the Mayor/Mayer news.

I just came back from shopping. Not shopping for purses, or clothes, or shoes like all you ladies out there. I'm talking about grocery shopping. I have started cooking more like I said I would, so I've begun venturing out to the grocery store, which is a new experience for me. So far this summer, I've made Caesar salad, a horrible strawberry/banana smoothie, banana cream pie, and Fettucini all'Alfredo. So far everything has tasted pretty good, in my opinion, except that smoothie.

Shopping is really hard for me. I find myself just staring at the vast collection of meats, cheeses, and breads that Safeway offers. It literally took me 5 minutes to decide which bananas I wanted to buy. I get a little nervous standing in front of the isles and deciding if I want bologna or turkey, while people come in real quick and grab the item they want. I guess that swooping in comes with experience in the grocery store. But I have to admit I do enjoy grocery shopping, because you never know what item will be on sale the day you shop.

Another thing about grocery shopping is that you have to mix up the things you buy every once in a while or else you start to get tired of the consistency. I think of the itmes I buy like a relationship. For example, I could build a real intimate relationship with Little Debbie and buy her products every week, spending every lunchtime eating her sweet delicious chocolate. But every relationship requires space. We might need to take a break, and perhaps the best thing for me is to see other people. I might go out on a date with Mama Celeste, or have a one-night stand with Betty Crocker. And if I want to go out to the bar and have a few beers with my boys, the Keebler Elves, she can't stop me. But in the end and after some time away from each other, me and Little Debbie will always get back together.

Even bigger news. My all time favorite basketball player, Todd Fuller, is getting married! Check out his site, www.toddfulleronline.com and see for yourself. That's awesome.
