"You have to take a chance on something sometime" - Jim Halpert.

Martin made a good point on Sunday while I was talking to him: I don't post a lot anymore now that school has started. So I will write something now.

I had my first official assignment due today. It was an Econ problem set with something like 30 questions. I'm pretty nervous because I don't know if I have the right answers or how grading works, but we'll see what happens. I visited with my friend in econ class a few times, went to my GSI, I even went to the sole Econ tutor (Berkeley cut the Econ tutor funding from the Student Learning Center. Bastards). I also have a quiz next week and "real" stuff coming up early October, so the work is finally starting to come in.

Well it's been really cool that so many people have kept me company and supported me these first few weeks. I've kept in contact with a lot of people through phone, email, and IM's, and it's been a great way to make me feel at home. I had dinner with Shannon earlier this semester, and I saw Julia and Ryan today, so it's nice to see some familiar faces. Pat K also stopped by today and we had dinner. I finally got out to the other side of campus with him. We were going to eat at Steve's North Korean BBQ, but we decided on the Italian place nextdoor instead. I'll probably hang out more on that side of campus since everything is there.

Kenny showed me his "short film." I was very impressed with his camera work and music that he added to the film, because the song went really well with the material he filmed. I think a film with real scripts and camera work is possible for him. Although his film showcased the lack of athletic ability I have in the game of golf, it's still pretty fun to watch.

Well, Berkeley continues to be a learning experience for me. Learning about myself and others in the process. One of the weird things is that all the people I've made friends with so far at Berkeley are really just guys from Lowell who I never really talked to during my four years there, but we have that common bond and we've become friends now. I think that's pretty awesome. Another funny thing is that people know Lowell High School because apparently, we send lots of people to Berkeley. I had no idea Lowell had a reputation outside of San Francisco. Of course that reputation is that we're nerds, but still, it's a reputation.

I didn't make any friends in my Econ section yet. We're allowed to work in groups and turn in a single paper for our homework. I asked this one guy if he wanted to work together. He just put his head down and didn't say anything, so I asked him again because I thought he didn't hear me. Then he mumbled that he already had a group, said sorry, then ran away. He literally rushed out of the classroom like Napoleon Dynamite runs. In some sense, I feel bad that I got rejected. This guy has now become my enemy.

Some of you have mentioned that John Mayer has sold out because he's now moving towards the blues. I haven't heard any of his new stuff, nor did I get a chance to see his show at the Fillmore last week with his new John Mayer Trio band because of school. But I am a true John Mayer fan, and I will support him no matter how much his music changes. I actually think it's kind of cool to see him change his music. He's gone from acoustic, to electric, to blues. As long as he doesn't go country, I'll be fine with his music.

That's a good segway to my newest Adventures of Bevis and Spud. Lana did the coloring on this one. Hope you like it:
