Being 21 has a lot of perks. For one, I can now join Kenny in the nudie bars. Johnson can join us soon. Secondly, I can enjoy certain beverages which I could not have enjoyed at first. Lastly, I can walk into Big Al's Adult Superstore and brouse the products, read the magazines for their articles, and so on. Of course, I won't be doing any of these. The only bars I will be enjoying are chocolate ice cream bars. And the beverages I will be consuming will be punch flavored. And the only Superstore I will be browsing is Costco.
We went out for dinner tonight to celebrate. It was really nice to get all the bithday wishes, cards, gifts, instant messages, a single text message telling me to get to class from Peony, etc. For the first time since I was 18, I really stopped and thought about my birthday. 18 was the last big one for me, and many of the rest of the birthdays become sort of "whatever" birthdays. But 21 was one of those thinkers, because it makes you think about your life path. The next big birthdays end with 0's, so I wanted to soak this one in a little.
I think the sayings "You just got burned", "You just got served", "You just got punked", or "You just got owned" (Kenny modified it to "Owned Skizzled", which is much, much better) are becoming too cliche. From now on, I want people who just got something handed to them be told, "You just got glazed" (like a ham, or perhaps, even like a doughnut). I'm trying to fulfill my 2005 New Year's resolution of starting a catch phrase. I want to see all the celebs telling each other they just got glazed by year's end, but first, it must start with you.
I unfortunately didn't bring my camera tonight and capture our night at dinner and Ben's workplace where he has stacks upon stacks of toys in his office (he works in a toy company that has tea and hot chocolate for its employees!). However, here are some pictures from last week:

If you look really closely, you'll notice the cake was replaced with an exotic fruit. We plan on using the second picture for our family Christmas card. I wanted to make our relatives think a little about the fruit in my hand and its significance to the family.
