A few weeks ago, I was in a situation that I'm sure all of us have been in. All of us have been in a group of friends, co-workers, or classmates trying to work on a project or make a decision. And of course, you try and put in your two-cents, but nobody ever stops to listen to your suggestion. And naturally, you end up repeating yourself two or three times because maybe you will catch somebody's attention, but it never works because when people marginalize you and look down upon you, there's no way anybody is going to stop to listen to your ideas. So I thought of the perfect way to get everyone's attention without resorting to violence or insulting anybody. Just start singing the National Anthem. I guarantee everyone will stop talking and watch you. Nobody wants to be the guy talking while the National Anthem is being sung because it is disrespectful. Of course, there's always going to be that one jerk who'll go "What the hell are you doing?", but trust me, the people around you will be like "Shh, shut up. Can't you see he's singing the National Anthem?" Then immediately after you're done, just say whatever you had to say and then leave. And if you did a really good job, you might even get a few tears to come out and a round of appause. So next time you're in a group and nobody is listening to you, just start singing the National Anthem.
