"The San Francisco Chronicle suggests that if the Giants land Lou Piniella as their next manager, they could have a chance to get Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod would replace Bonds as the big bat in the Giants lineup and take over shortstop when Omar Vizquel leaves in 2008. The Chronicle suggests a package featuring young pitcher Jonathan Sanchez might get a deal done. Expect plenty of these rumors over the next few weeks as teams line up to try to lure Rodriguez away from the Yankees."
Wow, from a hated Yankee to a Giant? He's not postseason clutch, but sadly he'd be a good fit for the Giants at third base.
Here's what the Giants are going to do. I know because Brian Sabean called me and told me:
1. Not trade for ARod because Jonathan Sanchez is garbage.
2. Not resign Bonds, Finley, Alou, Durham or Schmidt.
3. Resign Pedro Feliz and Hillenbrand. Let Kevin Fransden take over second base.
4. Sign Rich Aurilia, who wants to come back as a Giant.
5. Sign Dave Dellucci to start in right field.
6. Sign Ramon E Martinez to because Peony wants him to come back.
7. Sign all these weird pitchers to replace Schmidt, like Adam Eaton, Shawn Estes, and All Star Mark Redman.
8. Bring in a new closer challenger, like Joe Borowski or Scott Williamson.
Wow, it's that easy. I should be a GM.
Alright, my postseason predictions were totally wrong. Hope people didn't lose a ton of money because of me.
