One of the things that really irritates me is holding the door open for a stranger behind me and they don't thank me. Even "the nod" would do, just to confirm my gracious deed. A few weeks ago, I held the door open for a girl at Berkeley, and she didn't say anything. I was a little upset, and I noticed she was walking towards the same classroom as me. I had to plan it just right, but I sped past her and walked into the classroom so the door would close on her as she reached it. It was a lot of planning, effort, and calculation on my part, but there was something really satisfying about it.
On a separate note, news about the new Star Trek movie is starting to come out about the early college days of Kirk and Spock. I'm planning on sending my acting resume to the studio to see if I can get a role as "The ensign who dies early in the movie from a control panel explosion to the face."
